Extension guide
Animated Text
Display text on a sprite and add typing, rainbow and zoom animations.
Getting started
- Add a “show text” block to a sprite and enter your text.
- Set the font, text color and text width. The text replaces the sprite’s visible costume.
- Choose an animation in “[ANIMATE] text [TEXT]” to play an effect. Use “show sprite” to restore the original costume.
For example, show “Welcome to my project!”, select the Marker font, then use the type animation for your next sentence.
Extra features
“Enable Non-Scratch Lab Features” reveals additional blocks, including outlines and separate animation durations. These features are not compatible with the official Scratch Lab editor; a confirmation appears before enabling them.
Compatibility and limitations
- The upstream
textID, block opcodes and arguments are preserved. Projects load the extension throughlab/text.js. - This is TurboWarp’s compatible implementation of Scratch Lab Animated Text. Upstream explicitly states that it is not based on Scratch Lab’s source code.
- It uses internal renderer interfaces. Container and component behavior has not been verified; only sprite targets are currently declared.
- Font names stay in English to match the font selector. Blockdia maintains the Simplified Chinese block and menu translations separately.
